Volunteering at Cowichan Hospice

Volunteers are the Heart of Cowichan Hospice!

Cowichan Hospice volunteers receive extensive training, ongoing education, and supervision so they may provide expert support to clients through their palliative and grief journeys.

Though they are guided by Hospice values and protocols, each volunteer brings something unique and authentic to the role. Most provide peer support and information to palliative and bereaved clients and caregivers, while others support hospice care and services through office work, gardening, fundraising and helping out at events.

Is volunteering at Cowichan Hospice right for you?

We offer volunteer training twice each year. After completing initial training, new volunteers are supported by an experienced mentor through a six-month apprenticeship. Peer support meetings are held twice monthly and advanced training opportunities are available throughout the year.

If you would like to learn more about becoming a volunteer with Cowichan Hospice, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator by phone at 250-701-4242 or by email at volunteercoordinator@cowichanhospice.org
